आपल्या शहरातील सार्वजनिक जागांची स्वच्छता हाती घेतलेल्या  उपक्रमांमध्ये स्वयंसेवक म्हणून सहभागी होणे हे एक चांगले काम आहे. आपल्या शहराला परिभाषित करणाऱ्या सार्वजनिक जागाप्रती आपली बांधिलकी आणि जबाबदारीची भावना यातून प्रतिबिंबित होते.अनेक लोकांना आपल्या शहरासाठी काही तरी करायचे असते. पण सुरुवात कशी करायची हे लक्षात येत नाही. म्हणूनच अशा उपक्रमांमध्ये स्वयंसेवक म्हणून सहभागी होणे हा योग्य मार्ग आहे. कारण सांघिक कार्याने आपण अधिक व्यापक व चांगले काम करू शकतो त्यासाठी तुमच्या परिसरातील विश्वासार्ह अशी स्वयंसेवी संस्था हे योग्य दिशेने पहिले पाऊल आहे. अनेकदा  तुम्ही अशा संघटनेबरोबर सहभागी होण्याचा निर्णय घेतला की  पहिल्यांदा  उपक्रमात भाग घेताना काही गोष्टी लक्षात ठेवणे आवश्यक आहे. त्या खालीलप्रमाणे...   १. आपले नाव आणि इतर तपशिलांसह नोंदणी करावी.   २. स्वयंसेवा करत असताना काही कारणामुळे गरज पडल्यास तुमचा आपातकालीन संपर्क आणि  रक्तगट यांची देखील नोंदणी करून ठेवावी. ३. उपक्रमाच्या ठिकाणी वेळे आधी पोहोचा. उपक्रमाबाबत सुरुवातीलाच  माहिती मिळेल. ४.  ज्या ठिकाणी उपक्रम आहे त्या बाबीची य

Volunteering for cleanliness of public spaces is a noble cause. It reflects our sense of responsibility and belongingness to our public spaces which define our cities. Many people would want to do something for our cities but don’t know where to start. The best thing is to be a part of a team that volunteers for such activities as team work can multiply the outcomes. Finding out an NGO in your locality with goodwill and trust amongst the people is the first step in the right direction. And once you have  decided to join hands with a team then there are certain things which you  should consider while volunteering for the first time  1. Make sure to register yourself with your name and contact details 2. Declare your blood group and emergency contacts in case the need arises 3. Ensure you are on time or before time so that you can get a proper briefing about the  activity. 4. An intriguing interaction between the leadership of ‘SWaCH’ and waste warriors of Adar Poonawalla Clean City Initiative (APCCI) unravelled many aspects and ideas to help maintain our Pune city clean. Ms. Laxmi Narayan, co-founder of ‘SWaCH’ was at the APCCI office to interact with the audience as a part of ‘Clean City Talks’. The third session was a part of the ongoing series which explores various aspects of sustainability and what it means for a common man to keep our city clean and sustainable. Along with Ms.Vidya Naiknaware, member of SWaCH, Ms. Laxmi Narayan interacted with the waste warriors of APCCI  and took them through the fascinating journey of SWaCH, right from its inception in 1989 to being registered in 1993 when it was called Kagad Kach Patra Kashtakari Panchayat (trade union for hardworking waste pickers) and to the present day decentralized, accountable organisation. She talked about the challenges, roadblocks faced and how they managed to overcome it and
