अनेक वेळा आपण असे बघतो की घरी काही ना काही तरी काम चालू असते त्यातून काही प्रकारचा कचरा निर्माण होत असतो किंवा इमारतीच्या परिसरात असलेल्या झाडांचा पालापाचोळा त्याची विल्हेवाट कशी लावायची हे नागरिकांना माहीत नसते आणि एकंदरच जागरूकतेचा अभाव असल्यामुळे जमा झालेला कचरा हा  नागरिकांकडून जाळला जातो. कचऱ्याची योग्य, शास्त्रशुद्ध विल्हेवाट कशी लावायची हा खूप महत्वाचा विषय आहे.जेव्हा कचरा हा चांगल्या प्रकारे आदर्श पद्धतीने विलगीकरण केला जातो ओला, सुका  किंवा त्याच्या विविध स्वरूपाबाबत त्यावेळी त्यावर काही ना काही प्रक्रिया करता येते आणि त्याचे काही ना काही तरी दुसऱ्या पदार्थामध्ये रूपांतर करून त्याचा पुनर्वापर करता येऊ शकतो. हे सगळे करण्यासाठी यंत्रणेची गरज असते. ज्या ठिकाणी यंत्रणा उपलब्ध नसते अशा ठिकाणी किंवा जिथे लोकांमध्ये जागरूकता नाही ,अशा ठिकाणी कचऱ्याची विल्हेवाट लावण्याची लोकांनीच शोधून काढलेली सगळ्यात सोपी आणि हानिकारक पद्धत म्हणजे कचरा जाळून टाकणे.  कचरा जाळला म्हणजे आपल्या नजरेआड जातो आणि त्याच्या नंतर त्या कचऱ्याचे काही करावे लागत नाही, अशा विचारातून नाग...

As much as we all want our environment to be free of litter, there are still areas prone to chronic waste spots. These areas are often characterized by heaps of trash and debris, and they can diminish the aesthetic value of a place as well as negatively impact public health and safety. But with a little effort, we can all contribute to beautifying these chronic waste spots and make them a pleasant site for everyone.   One of the first things to consider when beautifying a chronic waste spot is to assess the scope of the clean-up. This will help us determine the resources and strategies that we need to employ to tackle the problem effectively. Cleanliness drives at more than 100 locations in the city, massive plantation drive with 1000+ saplings, river cleanup drive , chronic spots cleanup,  regular cleanup on weekends at more than fifty spots, mega drive at Samvidhan Chowk, awareness sessions in schools was a perfect way to salute our great country and celebrate Independence Day. More than 100+ NGO,communities and volunteer groups teamed up for multiple drives on weekend leading upto Independence Day. Pune is blessed with surrounding hills, beautiful hill stations, forts and lakes . Nature has been truly kind to us with great climate and beautiful spaces in and around Pune. While there is a lot of awareness on keeping these places clean, we often forget the beautiful roads leading to these places. Keeping the city clean is not a piece of cake. A lot of hard work and consistency is needed to keep the environment clean. Having the help of various machines to do this is a cherry on the cake. Machines save our time, they make cleaning efficient and ease up the job a little.   Machines are a great help to man but they can’t be used until the men are skilled. Garbage chronic spots  (also called Garbage Vulnerable Points - GVP) are always a stark reminder of how much more work we all have to do when it comes to keeping our city clean. What is a Chronic Spot? We often come across some places in the city where we see garbage piled up. Even if the municipal vehicles collect garbage from these spots, these heaps of garbage again begin to reappear. Generally, a corner of any road, any empty public space or unguarded empty private space, side margins of roads become an ideal place for chronic spots.  These are spots where it becomes a habit for people to dispose off the waste, dry and wet.
