  Climate Reality Project ( India )  along with Adar Poonawalla Clean City Initiative (APCCI)  is working with campuses in Pune   to convert them into green campuses. This result oriented impact driven program enables schools and colleges to conserve natural resources like water and biodiversity, optimize energy efficiency, manage waste and provide clean air etc . These are the five parameters on which the program is based with a definite methodology.   This is a student driven program, where the youth take responsibility for their campuses under the guidance of their educators and management. With their support, the students are able to come out with solutions which can easily be  implemented.   What are Climate Troopers? The basic concept is of responsible volunteering . Lot of people are driven towards community outreach programs, they are there on the field  contributing, but at some point of time we have to map the outcome of their efforts. Climate Troopers is an army of volunteers who have the faith that climate crisis can be handled if people are willing to take some meaningful steps in that direction. The guiding principle is  Learn, Share and Act.   Climate Troopers  have been engaged in these activities on these principles for last two years and they have not only created impact which is visible but also solutions which can work in a longer run.   There are different consumption patterns when it comes to food, apparels, different things they use in their day to day lifestyle and these are discarded at some point of time as waste. On home front this waste whether dry or wet can be managed, but what about common or community spaces? These are the places where there is a lot of public movement and large people gather and therefore individual behaviour and responsibility becomes all the more important. Some of the community spaces where people gather in large numbers are the different heritage spots like forts, or leisure tourist places like beaches, public parks etc.  Here we most likely see more litter. Garbage chronic spots  (also called Garbage Vulnerable Points - GVP) are always a stark reminder of how much more work we all have to do when it comes to keeping our city clean. What is a Chronic Spot? We often come across some places in the city where we see garbage piled up. Even if the municipal vehicles collect garbage from these spots, these heaps of garbage again begin to reappear. Generally, a corner of any road, any empty public space or unguarded empty private space, side margins of roads become an ideal place for chronic spots.  These are spots where it becomes a habit for people to dispose off the waste, dry and wet. The heaps keep on piling up damaging the aesthetics of the area and also posing a lot of health risks for the local population there. How to identify a Chronic Spot ? If the waste generated by the locals is thrown in the open at a particular spot where it accumulates and keeps on piling up even after frequent cleaning, then it is called a Chronic Spot.
