Gramphachyats, NGOs, organisations felicitated for their participation in cleanliness initiative during Wari

10 Grampanchayats, 40 NGOs along with representatives of PMC, Khadki
Cantonment Board and Pune Cantonment Board were felicitated for their
participation and support in cleanliness initiative during Pandarpur Wari . The
cleanliness drive was a part of ‘My Wari, Swach Wari’ movement
initiated by ‘Adar Poonawalla Clean City Initiative’(APCCI) to help
clean Palkhi route covering a total 125 km of roads from Pune city till
Saswad and Yawat . APCCI
organised a special program at Anna Saheb Magar College to felicitate
all the stakeholders . It was a proud moment as the grampanchayats and
volunteers were felicitated at the hands of Shri. Purushottam More
Maharaj , President Shree Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan in presence of
Dr. Ketaki Ghatge, Assistant Health Officer , Solid
Waste Management department of PMC, Nitin Ghorpade, Principal,
Annasaheb Magar College, Mr. Krishnan Komandur, CEO APCCI, Mr. Malhar
karwande, COO and Satya Natarajan, Lead Volunteer APCCI.
A team of over 1350
volunteers, NGOs and Gram panchayats teamed up to collect 86.5. tons of
dry waste over a period of four days from 1st July to 4th July. The
cleanliness drive was a part of ‘My Wari, Swach Wari’ movement initiated
by ‘Adar Poonawalla Clean City Initiative’(APCCI) to help clean Palkhi
route covering a total 125 km of roads from Pune city till Saswad and
Yawat .
The cleanliness drive is conducted every year where the roads are cleaned within few hours of Palkhi procession by Adar Poonawalla Clean City, Gram panchayats of Loni Kalbhor, Kunjirwadi, Sortapwadi, Uruli Kanchan, Kadamwak Vasti, Wadki, Saswad, Dive Kalewadi, Zhendewadi, Yavat and volunteers from these villages along with Pune Municipal Corporation , Pune Cantonment Board and Khadki Cantonment Board who have been a valuable part of the campaign.
This year APCCI installed green nets at various places to enable volunteers to collect and segregate waste without any hassles. Also more than 140 garbage pickup vehicles and machines were pressed into service. APCCI COO Mr. Malhar Karwande, APCCI manager Mr Nilesh Ramekar visited all the villages for coordination and mobilized the volunteers through WhatsApp groups. The dry waste which was collected separately included plastic bottles, paper cups etc. The volunteers were provided with material for cleaning including plogging bags.
NGOs and institutions who have always been a valuable part of the drive include Barclays LTS Group Kharadi, Sankriti Dhol Pathak Team, Urali Kanhcan Ekta Mahila Bhachat Gat, Ekatmik Bal Vikas Yojana Group, Krupa Nursery team, Nirsarg Upchar Ashram employees, Dr. Manibhai Desai Patsanshta Employees, Rashtriyaseva Yojana Urali Kanchan, Govinda Mahila Group, Swami Seva Parivar Trust Sortapwadi, Kasturi Pratisthan, Karhamai Foundation, BramhaAshra Publicity, Yoddha Career Academy, Sant Sopankaka Bank Pune Zilla Foundation, Janeev Foundation, Bhumata Mahila Sanghatna, Runanubandh Foundation, Karmayogini Mahila Group Hadapsar, ASR Services, Sumeet Facilities Ltd, Shewalewadi Gram Swacchata Abhiyan Group, Raje Club Shewalewadi, Uruli Kanchan Gram Swachhata Abhiyan, Dreams Yuva Social Foundation, Sortapwadi Gram Swacchata Abhiyan Group, Jay Hind Group, Vidya Vikas College, Yavat, NSS and NCC team of Nazire College, Saswad, Paryavaran Sanrakshan Samiti,Gramin Vikas Vidyalaya Kunjirwadi, Purogami Vidya Vikas Vidyalaya Sortapwadi, Sudarshan Yuva Mandal, Mahatma Phule Krushi Vidyapeeth Pune, Sewa Sahyog Committee.
ULBs and volunteer groups worked hard to plan this cleanliness drive for the last fifteen days and over 1350 local volunteers along with 350 APCCI waste warriors were mobilized for this task. APCCI provided the volunteer groups with garbage collection bags, hand gloves and garbage pickup vehicles.
The movement was carried out under the guidance of APCCI CEO Mr. Krishnan Komandur.
